Information from the Board of Directors

What’s Next for CCI?

In previous CCI newsletters, we had repeatedly pointed out that elections for the new CCI Board of Directors are due this year and, in that context, had also asked who might be interested in serving on the board in the future. For a long time, no one came forward, so we on the board had already begun to consider that the current board might continue its work as the new board. Unfortunately, however, Hans-Peter is facing a very serious illness that is forcing him to end his involvement with CCI. He is no longer able to continue his duties on the Board in an appropriate manner and will step down from his position upon the publication of the 64th CCI newsletter.

In light of this, Alfred Stummerer has agreed to serve CCI. We extend our heartfelt thanks to him, as this ensures continuity in CCI’s leadership. We officially appoint Alfred Stummerer as a new member of the CCI Board! A new election for the next Board is therefore no longer necessary and is not planned.

A warm welcome and best of luck in your future role, Alfred!

How responsibilities will be divided among the three members of the new Board is still to be determined.

Here are a few personal words from Hans-Peter as he concludes his tenure as CCI Chair:
After 13 years as Chair of CCI, an interesting and eventful period is coming to an end for me—a period during which I was happy to serve the association. It has been a pleasure and an honor to fulfill this role for so long. At the same time, I am sorry to have to step down from the Executive Board. Just a year ago, I had completely different ideas about the future. Of course, I’ll remain a member of CCI and will continue to play my games.

I’d like to thank Frank and Reinhard for our collaboration on the board, and all CCI friends for their chess camaraderie over the many years. I hope you’ll continue to have many wonderful experiences in the club! All the best to you and to the CCI club!
